Eric Bischoff Reacts To Ric Flair Possibly Signing With AEW
Former WCW President Eric Bischoff has commented on the potential of Ric Flair appearing in AEW as speculation continues to grow over The Nature Boy’s future.
Flair surprised many onlookers when he seemingly requested his release from WWE, bringing his third spell affiliated with the company to an end after nine years.
Since then as the wrestling world wondered what Flair’s next move would be, he somewhat surprised everyone by appearing at AAA’s TripleMania event by the side of his daughter Charlotte’s fiancé Andrade El Idolo. During Andrade’s Mega Championship match with Kenny Omega, Flair got involved delivering chops to the AEW World Champion before locking Omega’s second Konnan in the Figure Four. The crowd loved it.

Following that appearance Flair chose to appear on the NWA 73 pay-per-view, returning to the promotion where he won ten World Titles during his legendary career. As wrestling returned to The Chase in St Louis, Missouri it was only fitting that The Nature Boy returned to his spiritual home where he delivered an emotional address to the captivated audience.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast [available ad-free at AdFreeShows.com], Eric Bischoff has given his thoughts on what will happen should Flair decide to enter the world of All Elite as many expect. For Bischoff, he foresees a lot of joy should that transpire:
“Watch what happens when Ric Flair steps in the ring in AEW. Just watch what happens. We saw what happened in Mexico in AAA when Ric Flair and Andrade got together. When Ric Flair steps back in the ring and starts chopping somebody, nobody is going to say to themselves ‘Oh man, that was a weak chop, he doesn’t chop as well as he did 20 years ago.’ Nobody could give two shits, they’re going to have a blast, they’ll rejoice, it’s going to trigger their memory and they’re going to go back in time and remember some of those magic Ric Flair moments and that’s what they’re paying their money for.”
“The idea, the narrative that older talent won’t attract the demos, I’m sorry, what is ‘The Demo God’ Chris Jericho, 50? Come on, it should be obvious. You do need younger talent, definitely building that roster full of the future, there’s no question about that. I’m not suggesting all you do is feature that older legacy talent but people still want to see them get in the ring, they still want to see them active, they still want to rejoice in seeing talent like Ric Flair to this day at 72 years old step in the ring and have some fun.”
