Drew McIntyre Fires Massive Shot At Cody Rhodes Ahead Of WWE SmackDown
Drew McIntyre took a personal shot at Cody Rhodes after doing a cheap attack on WWE SmackDown.
The tag team of Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul picked up a huge win at WWE SummerSlam when they defeated Randy Orton and Jelly Roll.
On the SmackDown after SummerSlam, Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul teamed up again, this time against the superteam of WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and John Cena. The match was set up earlier in the night when Paul and Cena agreed to compete at Clash in Paris on August 31st.
During the main event tag team match, Paul was disqualified for hitting a low blow on Cena. That led to Paul and Cena brawling to the backstage area.
Cody was fighting with Drew around ringside. Cody cleared off the commentary table, but Drew nailed Cody with the WWE Title to the head. Drew stared at the WWE Title. Cody got back up, so Drew gave Cody a Claymore Kick to put Cody through the bottom of the commentary table! There was a loud crash as Cody went through the bottom of the table.
After the Claymore Kick, Cody was down on the floor as Drew taunted him and trash-talked him. There were officials at ringside to try to get Drew to back away. Drew told Cody that the WWE Title is his. That was the end of the show.
In a post on Instagram showing his Claymore Kick on Cody Rhodes under the table, Drew McIntyre mocked the giant American Nightmare tattoo on the right side of Cody’s neck.
I was using that stupid tattoo as a giant bullseye
Although some fans noted the tattoo is on Cody’s other side, McIntyre’s comment still resonated with fans.

Drew McIntyre Will Address Cody Rhodes On WWE SmackDown
On WWE SmackDown in Boston on August 15th, Drew McIntyre is being promoted for a segment where he will address what he did to Cody Rhodes on last week’s SmackDown.
- Drew McIntyre addresses his heinous attack on Cody Rhodes
- The Street Profits tangle with #DIY
- Alexa Bliss battles Piper Niven
- Fraxiom take on Melo Don’t Miz in tag team action
It is likely that Drew McIntyre will make it clear that he wants a shot at Cody’s WWE Title. Since Cody isn’t in a match at Clash in Paris on August 31st yet, a showdown between Rhodes and McIntyre for the WWE Title makes a lot of sense for a PLE like that.
