Current AEW Champion Lands New Backstage Role

AEW

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy is one of the busiest stars in the company, defending his title week after week but despite that, he’s found time to take on a new role.

Orange Cassidy captured gold in AEW for the first time back in October 2022 when he defeated PAC for what was then known as the All-Atlantic Championship. He leveled up that title during his reign becoming International Champion and has defended his title 26 times in a reign that is now knocking on the door of 300 days.

Cassidy’s last defense of his title came at Battle of the Belts VII in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he retained his gold by picking up a count-out win over former IWGP US Champion Lance Archer.

Now Fightful Select has reported that AEW is squeezing even more out of Orange Cassidy with the star apparently taking up a new role with the company. The report states that Cassidy has picked up work as a producer/agent in AEW and that he produced a recent bout between The Kingdom and The Infantry as well as Big Bill and Brian Cage teaming to defeat Matt Sydal and Trent Beretta in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament.

Orange Cassidy is not the only in-ring star with a behind-the-scenes role in AEW with Bryan Danielson also believed to be behind some creative for the launch of the new Collision show.
