AEW Star Would Love Company To Sign Drew McIntyre

Could Drew McIntyre sign with AEW?

Drew McIntyre’s contract status has been a talking point for almost a year. Around WrestleMania 39 it was revealed the star and the company were some way apart on terms, and there even claims McIntyre was unimpressed with his pay.

While the exact details of McIntyre’s contract are unknown, it’s widely believed his deal expires shortly after WrestleMania 40 after time was added on due to his 2023 absence.

Should McIntyre leave WWE, AEW would seemingly be his logical next move with the company firmly established as the number two promotion behind WWE. Interestingly, this isn’t lost on those in AEW.

Speaking in a new interview with Bootleg Kev, Swerve Strickland said he would love to see McIntyre join the company.

“I would love to see a Drew McIntyre over here. His contract status, I don’t know, I can’t speak on it, but I heard it’s not fully….I think Drew McIntyre can work anywhere in the world. He’s proven that before. That’s why WWE wanted him back so badly to the transformation he made because he can work anywhere and do anything with anybody. He would be a major fit in AEW.”

Drew McIntyre Keeping Options Open

For his part, the Scottish star has mostly had fun with the speculation, refusing to get drawn into the chaos.

In a recent interview, Drew McIntyre said a new contract is important and reiterated that his best years are to come, but stopped short of confirming those years will be with WWE. The former WWE Champion went as far as saying he could enjoy his wrestling future as “Drew Galloway” — the ring name he’s used outside of WWE.
