Adam Cole Injury Update

Adam Cole

Several AEW stars missed Forbidden Door due to injury but following the show, it has been reported that Adam Cole could be added to the company’s lengthy IR list.

CM Punk was the highest-profile absentee from Forbidden Door with the AEW World Champion originally set to face Hiroshi Tanahashi at the event. A foot injury put that dream match on ice and instead Tanahashi went one-on-one with Jon Moxley to crown an Interim AEW World Champion.

Bryan Danielson also missed an originally scheduled match with NJPW star Zack Sabre Jr. on the show with Claudio Castagnoli shocking the world as the American Dragon’s replacement. Many fans also wondered if former IWGP Heavyweight and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega might appear on the show despite his own injury battles but The Elite star was also absent.

One AEW star that did compete at the event was Adam Cole who took part in a four-way match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship alongside Kazuchika Okada, Jay White, and his old rival, Hangman Adam Page.

This was Cole’s first bout since winning the men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament back at Double Or Nothing and the former NXT Champion was said to have some kind of injury preventing him from competing.

Now following Forbidden Door and Jay White retaining his IWGP World Heavyweight Title by pinning Cole, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Adam Cole likely suffered a concussion in that match.

Medical personnel attended to Adam Cole at ringside following the bout and his Undisputed Elite stablemates The Young Bucks and Kyle O’Reilly also came to the ring to check on their teammate.
