WWE Announces WrestleMania 33 Will Be In Orlando On April 2, 2017
It was announced on Tuesday morning that WrestleMania 33 will take place in Orlando, Florida at the Orlando Citrus Bowl on Sunday, April 2, 2017. The announcement is not a surprise because it was expected for several months. Here’s the official announcement from a post on WWE.com.
WrestleMania 33 is coming to Orlando, Fla.
Next year’s Showcase of the Immortals will emanate from the Orlando Citrus Bowl on Sunday, April 2, 2017, the “Orlando Sentinel” reported late last night.
The event marks the second time that the Citrus Bowl has hosted WrestleMania, and the third time that The Grandest Stage of Them All has touched down in Florida. The Citrus Bowl was also the site of WrestleMania XXIV in 2008, where Big Show famously fought boxer Floyd Mayweather. WrestleMania then returned to Florida four years later, when The Rock defeated John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania XXVIII, held at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium.

The Orlando area has become something of a second home for WWE since they have their Performance Center there and they also tape NXT events at Full Sail University in the Orlando area. They’re also going to open up a restaurant and a physical Hall of Fame as well.
It’s been nine years since Orlando hosted a WrestleMania. That show in 2008 featured The Undertaker beating Edge in the main event while Shawn Michaels retired Ric Flair in a memorable match as well.
As mentioned in the article, there will be a press conference on Tuesday morning. Many big WWE names are expected to be there including injured superstar John Cena.
