Vote For First Ever WWE NXT Awards (Plus John Canton Picks For Each)

TJR Wrestling

The NXT brand is a growing force that had a really strong 2015 and will look to be even bigger in 2016. As a way to honor the performers on NXT in the last year, WWE.com set up some polls in a number of different categories that will allow fans to vote in the inaugural NXT Awards.

All of the info is posted on WWE.com, but I’ve also put it below with my thoughts on who should win. Voting closes on January 6 at 10AM ET, so make sure to get those votes in over the next six days.

Overall Competitor of the Year
Finn Bálor
Bayley
Kevin Owens
Sasha Banks
Samoa Joe
Charlotte
Sami Zayn
Becky Lynch
Tyler Breeze
Asuka

Vote now for Overall Competitor of the Year

My Pick: First of all, it’s great that they just have an “Overall Competitor” award that includes the women because they deserve it. I think all the choices are very good although you could argue that a guy like Sami Zayn wasn’t around that much due to injury. He’s the man, though, so I’m not going to complain about it. My pick is Sasha Banks. I think Balor might win because he’s the current NXT Champion, but if it’s Banks or Bayley then they certainly deserve it. Since fans of the divas are so passionate and I can see the girls pushing this a bit more on social media, one of the girls will probably win the fan vote.

Male Competitor of the Year
Finn Bálor
Kevin Owens
Samoa Joe
Sami Zayn
Tyler Breeze

Vote now for Male Competitor of the Year

My Pick: I think Finn Balor should win just because he’s the only guy on there that was on NXT for the full year. He had a damn good year too. The others are all awesome performers as well. Balor is the one that stands out the most, though.

Female Competitor of the Year
Bayley
Sasha Banks
Charlotte
Becky Lynch
Asuka

Vote now for Female Competitor of the Year

My Pick: It’s a tough one because Banks really dominated the first half of the year, but then Bayley took over. I’ll go with Sasha Banks because she had more great matches with different opponents. You can’t take anything away from Bayley because she showed in her match with Nia Jax that she can put on a great show with a fairly new wrestler as well.

Tag Team of the Year
Blake & Murphy
The Vaudevillains
Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady
Dash & Dawson
Lucha Dragons

Vote now for Tag Team of the Year

My Pick: I’ve always liked The Vaudevillains and felt like they had a damn good year in winning the Tag Team Titles for the first times. They’re my pick.

Match of the Year
Bayley vs. Sasha Banks (TakeOver: Brooklyn)
Finn Bálor vs. Kevin Owens (Brock Lesnar: The Beast in the East, Live from Tokyo)
Women’s Fatal 4-Way (TakeOver: Rival)
Samoa Joe vs. Finn Bálor (TakeOver: London)
Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens (TakeOver: Rival)
Bayley vs. Sasha Banks – 30-Minute WWE Iron Man Match (TakeOver: Respect)
Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch (TakeOver: Unstoppable)
Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks (WWE NXT, July 15, 2015)
Finn Bálor vs. Neville – No. 1 Contender’s Tournament Final (TakeOver: Rival)
Kevin Owens vs. Finn Bálor (WWE NXT, March 25, 2015)

Vote now for Match of the Year

My Pick: Since it was my #2 match of the year after the Royal Rumble triple threat, Bayley beating Banks at Takeover Brooklyn is my pick. Everything else on here is damn good too. This is why we love NXT after all. Great matches all year long.

TakeOver of the Year
TakeOver: Rival
TakeOver: Brooklyn
TakeOver: Respect
TakeOver: London

Vote now for TakeOver of the Year

My Pick: They’re all great. Can I pick more than one? No. Since I have to make a choice, I’ll go with Takeover Brooklyn just because it was a spectacular show from top to bottom. I remember it so well with Balor beating Owens in a Ladder Match main event, Bayley beating Banks for the Women’s Title in a classic, the Vaudevillains finally becoming Tag Team Champions, Apollo Crews impressing in his debut and the legendary Jushin Thunder Liger beating Tyler Breeze in Liger’s first match in WWE. I was at Takeover Rival and I loved being there. I just think the Brooklyn show was better from top to bottom.

That’s all. Use the links to vote for a particular award. Once again, you can vote on WWE.com and voting closes on January 6 at 10AM ET.

After you vote, you’ll see this message: “Thank you for voting. Find out who came out on top when the NXT Year-End Award winners are revealed on the Jan. 13 edition of WWE NXT, available only on WWE Network!”
