WWE Adds Three Huge Matches To Backlash Card

WWE Smackdown Randy Orton Solo Sikoa

There were three more matches added to the WWE Backlash card on SmackDown and two of those matches will have titles on the line.

With WrestleMania 40 in the rearview mirror, WWE is on the road to Backlash France taking place in the city of Lyon, France next Saturday, May 4th.

During an eventful night of WWE Smackdown in Cincinnati that also featured the annual WWE Draft, the company also added three matches to the Smackdown card.

For the second week in a row, a women’s match ended in a No Contest due to interference. This time it was a match between Tiffany Stratton and Naomi. The WWE Women’s Champion Bayley was on commentary and that’s when Nia Jax decided to attack everybody in sight.

Due to the chaos, Smackdown GM Nick Aldis announced that at Backlash, Bayley will defend the WWE Women’s Title against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton.

There was also an interview with top WWE Draft pick Bianca Belair, who revealed that she will team up with Jade Cargill to challenge the Kabuki Warriors duo of Asuka & Kairi Sane for the Women’s Tag Team Titles at Backlash. After Asuka & Sane had a staredown with Belair, Cargill joined her partner and the four women exchanged words.

The rivalry between The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga and Kevin Owens continued except this week, Owens had some help. While Owens was taking a 2-on-1 beatdown, Randy Orton made the save for his friend who he has teamed up with in the past.

It was officially announced that Randy Orton & Kevin Owens will team up to face Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga at Backlash. It will be Tonga’s first televised match in his WWE career after debuting on Smackdown earlier this month.

WWE Backlash France Will Have At Least Four Title Matches

There is still one more episode of Raw and Smackdown before Backlash takes place on May 4th, but at present, there are five matches that are official for the show. Four of those matches are championship matches.
