The Rock Shares MMA Training Footage (Video)

The Rock

The Rock has stepped out of a wrestling ring for the time being so he can concentrate on a movie role involved in the MMA world.

At WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, The Rock wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania Saturday in a tag team with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes & Seth “Freakin” Rollins. The Rock won that match, which his first lengthy match in a WWE ring in 11 years as long as you don’t count his one move, six-second match in 2016.

On the Raw after WrestleMania, The Rock told new Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes that he was going to be away for a while, but that he would be back and he was coming for Cody. The presumption is that Rock and Cody may have that match at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, but that’s not official yet.

The Rock posted on his social media about his MMA training for the movie “Smashing Machine.”

Preparing for “Smashing Machine”

I’m learning daily and it’s been a very humbling, intense and motivating journey into this world of combat and becoming,
Mark Kerr – the two-time
@UFC
Heavyweight Tournament Champion, World Vale Tudo Champion.

I’m a hard worker, but I realized that I’d have to work harder with this role than anything I’ve ever worked for in my life.

This physicality is just one part of the larger journey, that is truly a team effort.

Growing and grateful.

Was The Rock Nearly WWE Champion Again?

WrestleMania 40 saw Cody Rhodes become the Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time in his career, but the Wrestling Observer reported recently that there was consideration for The Rock to beat Roman Reigns if the two cousins had a WrestleMania 40 match as was once planned.

“At one point there was an idea that Rock would win the title from Reigns, and then give up the title to go to Hollywood and end the streak, but always call himself “The People’s Champion,” which is where that idea and belt came in, which was long before the Hall of Fame ceremony.

The idea that many were fighting against was the title win, and then Reigns after losing getting it back and then losing again to Rhodes, feeling that would greatly hurt Rhodes’ eventual win, and Rhodes was the guy who was going to have to carry the company in 2024 and 2025.

Others were strongly against that, saying no matter what happened as far as Rock getting the match, he could not win the title and Rhodes had to be the one who beats Reigns first and wins the title first.”

For now, The Rock will concentrate on his “Smashing Movie” and will return to WWE at some point in the future.
