AEW Star Undergoes Surgery

A rising star in AEW will likely be out of action for a significant amount of time after suffering a terrible injury during a match.

There was a huge match on AEW Dynamite in Jacksonville when Jon Moxley defended the IWGP World Championship against Powerhouse Hobbs. While AEW celebrated the fact that Moxley was defending New Japan Pro Wrestling’s top match on their signature show, the match will be remembered more for an injury.

In the final minutes of the match, there was a spot where Hobbs was running towards Moxley near the turnbuckle and something happened to the right knee of Hobbs that led to the big man collapsing to the mat. Hobbs finished the match about a minute later as Moxley picked up the win, but it was obvious that Hobbs was legitimately hurt.

It has been reported by Fightful Select that Hobbs’ knee injury is a significant one that will require surgery. The injury will require imminent surgery, which may have happened already. While the report doesn’t state what kind of leg injury it is, many kinds of knee surgeries are significant enough that it could lead to Hobbs being on the shelf for the rest of this year.

How Long Has Powerhouse Hobbs Been With AEW?

Will Hobbs, who was renamed Powerhouse Hobbs, has been with the company for nearly four years after debuting in July 2020. The big man was a part of Team Taz while also being a solo act at different points in his career.

Recently, Hobbs has been part of the Don Callis Family group led by Don Callis with Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, and Konosuke Takeshita.

During his AEW career, the only championship that Hobbs has won is the TNT Title, which he won in March 2023 and held for just 42 days.

Everybody here at TJRWrestling wishes AEW’s Powerhouse Hobbs all the best as he recovers from this devastating injury.
