WWE Made Shocking Move Believing Ric Flair Was Dying
Ric Flair has made shocking allegations against WWE.
While Flair’s life has been all about living to the fullest, he has learnt a lot about surviving over the last decade or so.
The Nature Boy’s health issues have been extensively reported, from suffering multiple heart-related issues to the most recent skin cancer diagnosis.
In July, he posted a picture of himself from the Academic Alliance In Dermatology, announcing that he was cancer-free.
WWE Wanted To Take Back The Rights To Ric Flair’s Name
During a recent appearance on Games with Names, the 76-year-old WWE Hall of Famer leveled serious allegations against his former employer.
Flair recalled being placed on life support in 2017 due to multiple problems, including kidney failure and congestive heart failure. The doctors told his family that he had a 20% chance of survival.
He revealed that during this time, WWE tried to take back the rights to his name, thinking he would not survive.
There’s only two people that own their intellectual property in the history of WWE — me and The Rock.
Ric Flair also spoke about suing the Stamford promotion, after which he was allowed to keep the rights for himself.
Because I sued WWE. Yeah. Well, because when I was dying — I was on life support for 14 days — everybody cashed in. My agent stole 150 grand, because if I was dead, then it would all go to court, right? Whatever my will was at that time. Estate planning is very important, by the way. But everybody cashed in because they thought I was going to die.
And then when I lived, I found out what was going on. I read the letters — WWE was writing me letters, wanting me to sign them while I was assigning my intellectual property back to them. So I didn’t sue at first. I just said, ‘I’m going public with this. Give me my s** back.’” [H/T: Ringside News]
