WWE Files Multiple Trademark Applications
Plans for future WWE plans may have been indicated by new company filings.
On August 11th the company issues new trademark applications to the United States Patent And Trademark Office. The filings feature the following shows:
- Hardcore Heaven
- Barely Legal
- Massacre on 34th Street
- Cyberslam
All 4 shows are previously used pay-per-views from ECW, which WWE owns the rights to following an acquisition of the video library and associated trademarks in 2003. With the company not choosing to revive these names following the purchase 20 years ago and with WrestleMania 40 taking place in the spiritual home of ECW, it appears that a resurgence may be taking place in the near future.
The filing application text is as follows:
Mark For: [BARELY LEGAL] trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.
Other filings include the ring names of Trish Stratus and Ikemen Jiro and The New Day’s Podcast “Feel The Power.”
Stratus has competed on multiple episodes of WWE programming in 2023 and is set to face Becky Lynch once again in a Steel Cage match. Jiro is featured on NXT, competing on both the main Tuesday night show and Level Up.
The New Day’s podcast releases episodes every Monday but has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2021, only releasing best of episodes.
WWE WrestleMania 40 Comes To Philadelphia
