A new report has provided some insight into WrestleMania 39 matches being changed by WWE, including whatever the company has planned for Brock Lesnar.

When it comes to Brock Lesnar, WWE fans know he’s going to be featured prominently at WrestleMania 39 in some way. After all, the 45-year-old Lesnar is a former 10-time WWE World/Universal Champion that has headlined five WrestleManias including WrestleMania 38 last year.

For this year’s WrestleMania 39 event at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 1st & April 2nd, Lesnar has been rumored for a few different matches including the likes of GUNTHER and a continuation of his lengthy feud with Bobby Lashley. However, now it looks like GUNTHER will be against Drew McIntyre (and possibly Sheamus) while Lashley could be matched up against Bray Wyatt.

This past Monday on the February 20th edition of Raw, Omos & MVP invited Lesnar to Raw this week to accept a WrestleMania 39 challenge from Omos. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that “whatever the Lesnar plan was changed in the last week or two.”

There are also people thinking that perhaps the change to the Lesnar match could be a Vince McMahon move because a Lesnar-Omos match is something the Executive Chairman of WWE would like due to it being a battle of “monsters.” However, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H is apparently still in charge of WWE’s creative team although there is some belief that Vince could have some input in the creative direction of the company.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer made it clear that he can’t say that Lesnar-Omos match was a Vince McMahon, but it was changed from whatever WWE originally had in mind for Lesnar.

“I can’t say that was due to Vince, but I can say that was a change.”

“Most of this WrestleMania card was planned out…they actually planned out most of this card further in advance than usual, which is Paul Levesque’s (Triple H) credit probably. Usually, some of the top matches are planned out in December/November and then you kind of fill it in from there.”

“This one, there’s a lot by October that they had. There’s definitely been many changes since October also. This was a change…I can’t say the day the Lesnar match changed and then it might change Monday too. I’m not sure if it’s a swerve, but I do know there were changes to the card in the last week or two for whatever that was.”

With all that said, it’s important to remember that WWE still has just under five weeks until WrestleMania 39 gets here, so they will likely finalize the card soon and there may be some tweaks along the way.
