WWE Changed Plans On Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania Opponent

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar was originally scheduled to face somebody other than Omos at WrestleMania 39, according to a new report.

At WWE Elimination Chamber last weekend, Brock Lesnar faced Bobby Lashley in a match that ended in a disqualification when Lesnar intentionally did a low blow kick to Lashley leading to the DQ finish. Post match, Lesnar hit Lashley with multiple F5’s including one through a table and Lesnar also hit two F5’s on referee Chad Patton as well. One of those F5’s on the referee was apparently something Lesnar did on his own.

This past Monday on the February 20th edition of WWE Raw, MVP did a promo challenging Lesnar to a WrestleMania 39 match against Omos. MVP and Omos wanted Lesnar to appear at Monday’s February 27th Raw episode to accept the challenge.

Over the past several weeks and months, Lesnar has been rumored to face a few different opponents at WrestleMania 39 such as a final grudge match against Bobby Lashley or perhaps a match against the Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER, which was teased at the Royal Rumble.

A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer notes that whatever Lesnar’s plan was for WrestleMania 39 has changed and now it looks like the match between Lesnar and Omos will happen.

“Brock Lesnar vs. Omos. The only thing we know is that whatever the Lesnar plan was, and it wasn’t Gunther, that is that it changed in the last week or two. Next week on Raw they are doing an angle that would either set up this match, or the angle is a swerve for something else. But television would lead you to believe this is it.”

As for Bobby Lashley, it appears as though he will face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 39 since Wyatt wanted the Lashley-Lesnar winner and Lashley mentioned Wyatt on Monday’s Raw as well.

At WrestleMania 38 last year, Brock Lesnar defended the WWE Championship against Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a high-stakes Winner Take All. Lesnar lost the match and has been unable to win a championship since then.
