Wade Barrett Hopes Audio From Shock WWE Moment Leaks

Wade Barrett got to call a big moment in WWE’s recent history in a unique way.

Wade Barrett has been calling the action from the announce table since joining NXT in 2020. There he developed his commentary skills alongside Vic Joseph and, in 2022, moved up to the main WWE roster where he served as the colour commentator on SmackDown. Currently, he is behind the booth on Raw alongside Joe Tessitore.

In his early days in NXT, Wade Barrett was known for yelling out Bronson Reed’s devastating finisher, the Tsunami. During an interview with AceOdds, the star revealed that his delivery came about because of Vic Joseph.

“In the first part of the question, we came up with that alongside Vic Joseph in NXT. Bronson Reed was in NXT at the time. For whatever reason, when I first started in NXT in the summer of 2020 working alongside Vic, the only finishing move I could remember the name for was the Tsunami and once Vic realised that he just said, ‘Okay, that’s the only one I want you to call,’ he’s going to call all the others but Wade calls the Tsunami and ‘I want you to yell it at the top of your lungs, as loud as you can.’ I was like, okay, that sounds a little weird.

“I tried it, people loved it, so we kept doing it. I think it really added to the moment, this freak show moment of Bronson Reed, the massive monster that is flying off the top rope and killing people with that move. So that came, I hate to give the guy credit, I joke, I like him, but yeah, Vic Joseph is primarily responsible for coming up with that one. He’s a great commentator and we’ll be seeing a lot more of him over the years in the WWE program.”

Wade Barrett Called Big Bronson Reed Moment Despite Missing It Live

Back in August, Bronson Reed shocked fans when he launched a vicious attack on Seth Rollins on Raw that included six Tsunamis off the top rope, putting The Visionary on the shelf for months. Barrett was on SmackDown at the time, but has revealed he did get to call the moment after the fact.

“Now the second part of your question in terms of that attack he launched on Seth Rollins. I’ll give you a little behind-the-scenes peek at what my life was that day. So, Joe Tess had announced that he was coming to Raw and we hadn’t quite decided how the team was going to look, or who he was going to be paired with. The company actually had a suggestion. ‘Hey Wade, we’d like you to fly after SummerSlam to the offices in Stamford, Connecticut, we’d like you to call Raw from the studio live’”.

“As it was being beamed out live, they hooked Joe Tess and me up with headsets, we had links to the producers of that particular Raw, and I sat with Joe Tess in a studio in Stanford Connecticut, calling Raw as if we were the guys calling the show. So, I actually did get to call that moment with Bronson hitting those six tsunamis.”

Wade Barrett says there is a video of the session, and he hopes it will get leaked someday.

“So, there’s a video of this somewhere. There is a recording of it out there, maybe it will get leaked one day. I think three people in the company saw that video. That was the top brass who wanted to check on how Wade and Joe Tess are working together and clearly, they liked what they saw from that and gave us the go-ahead to call Raw together after that.

“I did get to call it; I would have loved that to have been a moment I could have added to but it’s really cool to be calling his stuff again on Raw. I’m a big fan of Bronson Reed and think that tsunami is just one of the top moves in the industry.”

Seth Rollins got his revenge on Bronson Reed when he defeated him at Crown Jewel on November 2nd. However, it took multiple Stomps to keep the big man down long enough to get a three-count, including one on the steel stairs.
