Vince McMahon Netflix Docuseries To Address Lawsuit Allegations
The new Vince McMahon Netflix docuseries is going to address the lawsuit allegations made against him.
It was in January 2024 when former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was accused of sexual assault and sex trafficking in a bombshell lawsuit filed by a former WWE employee named Janel Grant. The lawsuit was also filed against WWE itself and former Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis. The lawsuit included disgusting allegations against McMahon while also providing text messages that were very damning against the former WWE Chairman.
Vince McMahon has denied the claims made by Grant and has said he wants to fight the allegations made against him.
In late 2023, McMahon helped facilitate the deal that led to Endeavor acquiring WWE and forming the TKO Group with UFC. After the January 2024 lawsuit came out, TKO Group told Vince McMahon to resign due to all the negative attention and McMahon did that. McMahon no longer has any association with WWE, the company he built.
Earlier this month, it was announced that there will be a six-part Vince McMahon documentary that will be released by Netflix on September 25th. It’s a documentary that Netflix first worked on in 2020 that will cover McMahon’s entire life from before he was in pro wrestling and his entire WWE run over 40 years.
A report from Fightful Select confirms an initial Wrestlenomics report that the final episode will cover McMahon’s lawsuit alleging a number of sexual misconduct claims. The lawsuit will also be addressed at the top of the show. This was apparently done to take heat off the people who will appear throughout the documentary and recorded their comments before the lawsuit came out.
Fightful also shared this comment from a veteran WWE superstar with over a decade of experience in the company.
“I don’t think at this point anyone should care about the life and times of Vince McMahon above the legal situation he’s in.”
A spokesperson for Janel Grant also issued this statement about the Netflix documentary about McMahon.
“Netflix’s documentary group made initial outreach to Janel’s representation for an interview for this project. Despite this, no such interview came to fruition.”
It was added by Fightful that some people in WWE believe the line from McMahon about not being a bad guy was done to “increase chatter” for the upcoming docuseries.
