Update On Former IMPACT World Champion Rejoining WWE
An update has been provided on the WWE status of a former IMPACT Wrestling World Champion that rejoined the company.
Even though he hasn’t been seen on WWE television for a long time, Fightful Select is reporting that Eric Young has been under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment since November 2022.
Eric Young worked for WWE from 2016 to early 2020 as part of a group called Sanity. Young was the leader of the group that started out in NXT, then in 2018 they were moved to Smackdown and had a decent run. Young was released by the Vince McMahon regime in April 2020.
Even though Young hasn’t returned to WWE on-screen physically, there are some people that believe his voice was used in a Bray Wyatt video a few months ago. Young has a very distinctive voice.
Most of Eric Young’s wrestling career on television has been spent with TNA/Impact Wrestling. He started there in 2004, the run lasted for about 12 years and he was in different roles such as being a comedy guy for so long before becoming a more serious character that became the World Champion.
As mentioned previously, WWE has had a “hiring freeze” in place since the start of 2023 with Vince McMahon returning as the Executive Chairman as well as the company selling to Endeavor, which was announced last week.
When Young, who is 43 years old, was rehired by WWE last fall it was with Triple H calling the shots in terms of hirings and firings. Triple H has brought back many former talents that were released by the company like Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, Bronson Reed, Karrion Kross and many others, including Young.
Young’s last appearance on Impact Wrestling was on December 1 when he was kayfabe “murdered” by his ally Deaner. There’s no word on when Young might return to WWE TV.
