Saraya’s AEW Contract “Largely Implies” She Will Wrestle
A new report has seemingly revealed some of the details of Saraya’s deal with AEW, as well as strongly indicating that she will be in active competition for the company.
With AEW President Tony Khan promising big surprises as part of Grand Slam last Wednesday, one was delivered when Saraya made her shocking return to wrestling, coming to the aid of current Women’s Champion Toni Storm and Athena as they being attacked by Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Rebel. The debut made plenty of impact even though the former WWE star didn’t get involved, but left the question whether she would getting involved as part of her deal.
Having suffered a serious neck injury at the end of 2017, Saraya has been forced to step away from the ring and there has been plenty of discussion since her debut as to whether she will be cleared to compete.
Whilst one report has suggested that it will be down to AEW’s Chief Doctor whether the former Paige is able to wrestle in the company, a new report suggests that there is optimism that she will be.
Fightful Select is reporting on the length of Saraya’s AEW contract, stating that it is three years whilst it is unclear at this stage whether there are also optional years included. They also claim that AEW first reached out to Saraya shortly after her WWE contract ended in July this year.
In terms of wrestling, the report quotes a source as saying that both the setup and money on the deal “largely implies that she’ll be wrestling in some capacity”, although there has been no official confirmation of that at this stage.
On this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Saraya will speak in the company for the first time and may well indicate what her plans are when it comes to active competition.
