It has been widely reported that Drew McIntyre’s suspension is tied to his filming a new movie.

PWInsider has freshly confirmed that the report is incorrect.

The rumor gained traction after being reported during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

According to PWInside Elite, creative sources have informed them that it is a part of his next storyline.

For those who have asked about rumors Drew McIntyre was ‘suspended’ on Smackdown so he can film a movie role, there is nothing to that. PWInsiderElite.com is told by creative sources that the suspension is just the next part of McIntyre’s storyline. There is nothing beyond that.

The Scottish Warrior has secured a role in the upcoming Highlander movie, starring Henry Cavill, where he will play Cavill’s brother, Angus MacLeod.

What Led To Drew McIntyre’s Suspension?

For weeks, Drew McIntyre has accused Cody Rhodes of politicking, even labeling him as “Corporate Cody Rhodes” while taking jibes at the Undisputed WWE Champion.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI, Rhodes used the title belt to his advantage to cost McIntyre a victory that would have seen him be crowned as the new champion.

However, the referee in the match, Dan Engler, failed to see it, as he was recuperating in the ring corner.

On last week’s SmackDown, Rhodes accepted a challenge from Aleister Black in the main event, but before the match could end, Drew McIntyre came in flying, knocking out referee Dan Engler with a Claymore Kick.

This incident ensued in a melee between McIntyre, Rhodes, Black, and Damian Priest.

McIntyre rolled outside the ring after being hit with a Cody Cutter. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis was none too pleased by McIntyre’s actions and suspended him.
