Ricky Steamboat To Return To The Ring

WWE Hall of Famer and former NWA World Champion Ricky Steamboat is set to make a remarkable return to the ring in late 2022.

The 69-year-old star has not stepped inside a wrestling ring in anger since 2010 when he teamed with his son Richie Steamboat to defeat Caylen Croft and AEW star Trent in WWE developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling.

Now, however, that is about to change as independent promotion Big Time Wrestling has promoted Ricky Steamboat for their “Return of The Dragon” event on November 27th in Raleigh, North Carolina. No opponent has been named as of yet for The Dragon but there is sure to be much speculation, especially after Steamboat’s old rival Ric Flair competed in his final match earlier in 2022.

Steamboat was rumoured to be the original choice for Flair’s opponent at that event but The Dragon publicly made clear that he had declined the offer.

Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat competed against each other in a historic trilogy of matches where they traded the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1989. Steamboat is also famed for his WrestleMania 3 masterclass for the Intercontinental Championship with the late Randy Savage.

Ricky Steamboat recently appeared on AEW Dynamite where he was faced with old rival Chris Jericho. The Dragon turned back the clock to deliver a monstrous chop to Jericho Appreciation Society member Angelo Parker.
