Response From CM Punk Expected After AEW Firing

CM Punk

CM Punk could have the mother of all pipe bombs to drop after his AEW exit.

After a week of intense speculation following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at Wembley Stadium, CM Punk (Phillip Brooks) has been terminated with cause effective immediately by AEW.

The issues regarding Punk in the company stretch back to All Out in 2022 where he was involved in a backstage fight with The Elite. That led to suspensions being handed out to all involved with CM Punk having a lengthy layoff from the company, also due to injury, with him only returning in the summer of 2023.

Tony Khan told a hostile crowd in Chicago ahead of Collision on Saturday night that his life was in danger during the latest backstage incident as he explained why he felt he had no choice but to fire Punk after a unanimous recommendation for outside legal counsel.

CM Punk could give his side of the story

CM Punk has so far kept quiet about his firing from AEW but a new report from ESPN has suggested that sources “close to both sides” expect a response from the star and it could have the potential to be explosive.

When CM Punk was fired from WWE in 2014 he went on Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast and gave his forthright take on what went wrong there. The appearance landed both Punk and Cabana in a lawsuit with a WWE doctor and it was during those legal proceedings that Punk and Cabana’s long-standing friendship collapsed.
