Randy Orton Still “Not Cleared” For In-Ring Return

Randy Orton does not appear to be returning to the ring anytime soon.

Randy Orton has not been seen in a WWE ring since May 2022 when he and Matt Riddle lost the Raw Tag Team Championship to The Usos. Since then, Orton has been out of action with a serious back injury.

Rumours of Orton’s return have surfaced before many of WWE’s major shows in 2023 with the company bringing out several surprises in recent months such as Drew McIntyre returning at Money In The Bank or Savio Vega making a return to WWE when Backlash took place in Puerto Rico. However, Randy Orton’s return doesn’t look to be on the horizon.

Fightful Select has now reported that there is still no timeframe for Randy Orton to return with sources in WWE creative noting that Orton is still not factored into plans at this time. Orton is still not cleared for a return to action or training but the star is said to still be planning to return at some point.

It is noted a lower back fusion that Orton has undergone is somewhat unprecedented for a wrestler with doctors telling him that a return to the ring isn’t a good idea. Orton is said to be “huge” as he has resumed weightlifting but is still not bumping.

Is Randy Orton’s WWE career at an end?

Randy Orton first debuted in WWE back in 2002 and he has remained an active part of the roster for twenty years. Orton has headlined WrestleManias and held countless titles in the company including the WWE Championship on 10 occasions.

Orton remains the last active member of Evolution on the company’s roster following the retirements of Ric Flair, Triple H, and Batista from the ring.
