R-Truth/Ron Killings’ Brand‑New WWE Gimmick Explained

Ron Killings R-Truth WWE

Is it R-Truth or Ron Killings?

It is fair to assume that this debate prevails among the members of the WWE Universe, but regardless, answering it may not be as simple.

After Truth made his return at Money in the Bank PLE, WWE marketed his merchandise under the name of Ron Killings.

On the subsequent RAW episode, Truth embraced his “new” name while exhibiting a darker persona and demanding respect.

Killings has been heard saying, “I’m driving now” on more than one occasion, all while attacking the Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena multiple times.

On a recent Busted Open Podcast, R-Truth was scheduled for a chat with WWE star Natalya and host Dave LaGreca.

But then, Ron Killings crashed it?!!

Sam Roberts of NotSam Wrestling tried to make sense of it.

He explained that the veteran’s current character is of someone who has a duel personality, with R-Truth and Ron Killings existing within the same body.

While R-Truth was the one in charge before his release, it is now Killings who has taken over.

I don’t think that this is as simple as, well, he was R-Truth and he got fired. And when they re-signed him, he wanted to re-sign as Ron Killings. So, now he’s going by Ron Killings, and he’s angry. I don’t think it’s like, ‘My old character was R-Truth, my new character is Ron Killings. I don’t think we’re saying goodbye to R-Truth. I think that Ron Killings is driving now. [40:07 onwards]

R-Truth To Face John Cena On SmackDown

Ron Killings attacked Cena twice on the recent SmackDown episode.

Killings appears tired of Cena disrespecting Truth and calling him a “gimmick.” The 53-year-old even had Cena in his own submission move, STF.

Backstage, Killings was approached by General Manager Nick Aldis, who asked what he wanted, to which the former United States champion replied, “Give me a match against Cena next week.”

“Done,” was Aldis’ response.

Truth and Cena recently faced each other at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a singles competition, which the latter won.
