Omos Says Former WWE Champion Helped Him Prepare For Brock Lesnar Match
Omos is crediting a former WWE Champion for making him a better performer while reflecting on his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39.
Considering he has only been under WWE contract for four years, the fact that Omos had a very competitive and entertaining match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39 is a testament to how far the 7’3″ Nigerian Giant has come in his career.
It’s important to remember that the Nigerian Giant wasn’t given a long run in NXT to get ready for the main roster. He became a regular on Raw in October 2020 and would go on to become a Raw Tag Team Champion at WrestleMania 37 in 2021.
Following his split and feud with former WWE Champion AJ Styles, Omos has had rivalries with other top guys. In 2022, he had a lengthy rivalry with another former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and he faced off against former Universal Champion Braun Strowman too.
At this year’s WrestleMania 39, Omos was named as the opponent for Brock Lesnar. There wasn’t much of a story, but they were put into the position of opening up WrestleMania Sunday as the first match. The giant controlled most of the match, but Lesnar made the comeback and won clean with an F5 to show off just how strong he is by lifting a 400-pounder like Omos with ease.
While speaking with the Daily Mail, Omos praised Bobby Lashley for helping him a lot and getting him ready for a match with a guy like Brock Lesnar.
“I learned a lot. Before this Mania, I told Bobby thank you. Brock is very intense. If I hadn’t worked with Bobby, I don’t think I’d have been prepared as a worker to face Brock. So me wrestling him got me prepared. That’s not possible without the work I put in with Bobby Lashley.”
Since the WWE Draft took place over two months ago, Omos and his manager MVP have been free agents. Omos hasn’t been used much since then, so it will be interesting what, if anything, WWE has planned for him moving forward.
Outside the ring, Omos was busy getting married in June.
