Backstage News From WWE SmackDown, Roles Of Producers Being Trained
There is some news from backstage at WWE Smackdown including the roles of two well-known Producers being trained in those roles.
This past Friday’s Smackdown event in Calgary featured a surprising US Title change with Rey Mysterio defeating Austin Theory to win the title even though it was supposed to be Rey’s LWO teammate Santos Escobar in the match. Theory attacked Escobar before the match, so Rey took his place and left with his third US Title win.
In other big news from Smackdown, Jey Uso quit The Bloodline again, quit Smackdown and quit WWE after he unloaded his anger towards Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. It’s a storyline with WWE going so far as to move Jey to their Alumni roster.
Fightful Select has reported some news from backstage noting that even though Roman Reigns suffered some sort of injury at SummerSlam last week, he is not expected to miss any schedule dates. While not specifying what his injury is, Fightful noted that it’s not a back issue for the Tribal Chief.
With regard to Rey Mysterio’s title win, there were some revisions made to the show internally to try to keep Rey Mysterio’s US Title win quiet.
It was reported earlier last week that former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis was backstage at Raw getting a tryout as a Producer and he was in the same role on Smackdown as well.
The report from Fightful notes that Aldis shadowed WWE Producer Petey Williams as they produced the AJ Styles-Karrion Kross match on Smackdown. Styles worked with Aldis and Williams for many years in TNA/Impact Wrestling.
Another TNA/Impact Wrestling alumni is Robert Roode, who is also getting a Producer tryout as he recovers from major neck surgery earlier this year. Roode worked with Producer Jamie Noble to help produce a backstage segment and the US Title match between Mysterio and Theory.

Also, it has been reported that Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa are all likely to be off Smackdown next week.
