Matt Hardy Discusses The Hardys vs. Adam Copeland & Christian Cage
Matt Hardy thinks that it is only a matter of time before two of the biggest names in tag team history face off once again.
With Adam Copeland now a member of All Elite Wrestling, the four pioneers of the TLC match are in the same company for the first time in over a decade. As nostalgia is one of the most powerful tools in entertainment, fans are already starting to fantasy book a future showdown between Team Extreme and the masters of the “5 second pose.”
Speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy believes that the two teams will cross paths eventually but Copeland and Cage have their individual careers to focus on first:
I mean, I pretty much feel that is inevitable when you say that. But like you said, we’re a long ways away. I mean, you have to remember that Edge is such a huge deal on his own, I still think that Adam Copeland and Christian Cage still have a lot of stuff to do on their own. And I think down the road, that obviously they’ll reunite and reconcile, they’ll figure out things one way or the other, and then they’ll be back together.
Judging by Christian Cage’s response to Adam Copeland, a reunion looks like it won’t be happening any time soon.
As both teams became legendary through their performances in ladder matches, fans are wondering if the former tag team champions will go high risk in 2023. Hardy continued by admitting that they will not be repeating The Attitude Era staple in AEW:
I just think that is inevitable to eventually have an Edge and Christian vs. Matt and Jeff match, I mean, that will happen, it is one of those things. I think, because we’re not going to do the 99 No Mercy ladder match, you know. Whenever we do have this match, I think we can still have a great match, we can still go out, we can have a killer match, it can be super entertaining, and it’s going to be fun, and there’ll be a lot of nostalgia involved.
But I think we can still do it on a level high enough in 2023 to 2024, whatever year it is, you know, in the future, that is still going to be a great match. But I think where the money is the most intriguing thing about having Matt, Jeff, Christian and Edge are the interactions between the characters because these are characters that have known each other for nearly three decades now. So that’s where the money is, I think the interactions in the characters, and eventually, I think we will pay it off with you know, with the tag team match.
Matt Hardy Comments On AEW Morale
