Liv Morgan Comments On Suprising WWE Return
Liv Morgan made a surprising return to WWE on Smackdown and has championship gold on her mind.
On the June 23rd edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler faced the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn in a championship unification match.
While the two teams had a competitive match, the result was likely not a surprise to a lot of WWE fans. Rousey & Baszler got the submission win, which means they will carry the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles on Raw, Smackdown, and NXT while the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles will go away.
During the match, former Women’s Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez was watching from ringside. After the match, Rousey & Baszler called out Raquel wondering what she was doing. That’s when Raquel informed the champions that “we” wanted the Tag Team Titles. Rousey and Baszler wondered who “we” meant. That’s why Liv Morgan made her surprising return.
When Liv Morgan made her entrance, she leaned forward with her left shoulder to show that it was doing just fine. Morgan hurt her left shoulder on the May 12th edition of Smackdown, which was the same match where Dakota Kai tore her ACL, an injury that will put her out for about nine months. Rodriguez & Morgan were forced to give up their Women’s Tag Team Titles due to Morgan’s injury.
Liv Morgan commented recently that she had a “torn shoulder” but it turns out that the injury likely wasn’t as bad as originally feared.
During an interview with WWE’s social media channels after Smackdown, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez addressed the situation.
Liv: “It feels like I’m home. I don’t know what to say. I worked so hard to come back as soon as I can so that we can back our championships that we never lost. My shoulder’s doing great, by the way.”
Raquel: “We were really hoping that Isla and Alba would win, but I think it just makes it a little bit more bittersweet that Ronda and Shayna are holding the titles that we never lost.”
As they continued, Liv Morgan had a bit of a bragging moment talking about the success she has had against Ronda Rousey in the past.
Liv: “You know what’s funny about that, though, is that when we beat them and win the titles, I’m gonna be the only person in the world to defeat Ronda Rousey three times.”
Raquel: “That’s a record, put it in the books.”
Liv: “Guinness? Hello Guinness. Where are you?”
