LA Knight Contract Update, Reason For New Push In WWE

LA Knight

LA Knight is finally set to be a top babyface on SmackDown! Yeah!

LA Knight has captured the hearts of WWE fans across the globe, and his popularity is reflected in massive ovations from the WWE Universe and in his impressive merchandise sales. Still, until recently, fans were left frustrated when WWE didn’t seem to share their enthusiasm for the star.

Despite hopes that Knight would win the Money in the Bank briefcase to take him to the next level of stardom, the company elected to go with The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest instead.

However, Knight’s fortunes seemed to take a turn when he won a battle royal at SummerSlam, eliminating Sheamus in the match’s final confrontation. At WWE Payback, he took on The Miz in singles action with John Cena serving as special guest referee, and after securing a victory over the host of MizTV, Knight received an endorsement from Cena.

LA Knight Close To Signing New WWE Contract

It was recently reported that, despite previous hesitation, WWE now sees LA Knight as the top babyface on SmackDown going forward. A new report from PWInsider Elite sheds more light on the situation, revealing that the company wanted to wait to properly push Knight as they were working on signing him to a new long-term contract. Some sources believe the new deal to be as long as five years, and according to the report, it is close to being signed if it’s not completed already.

Now that WWE has Knight locked into a new deal, he is set to be featured as a top star.

Speaking in a press conference after his win at SummerSlam, Knight addressed his meteoric rise within the company, saying he strapped the rocket to himself.
