Kurt Angle Confirms Movie Being Made About His Life

Kurt Angle conducts the crowd

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle is getting his own biopic.

During an appearance on Sports Illustrated’s The Pin Down, the Olympic gold medalist revealed that the project was greenlit with directors Ian and Eshom Nelms at the helm.

The announcement from the 56-year-old comes at the same time as his once nemesis, Mark Kerr’s biopic, The Smashing Machine, starring The Rock, releases.

When asked if the fans were getting a Kurt Angle movie anytime soon, the retired wrestler gave a positive response.

Yeah, you know what, we are working on that movie. I have the directors Ian and Eshom Nelms, they’re brothers. They were former wrestlers in high school and college. So they understand my sport. We’ve been talking to each other. We’re almost done with the script.

We already got the investors. So we’re in a good position right now, but we’re gonna make sure the script’s perfected before we do anything, before we pick the cast and everything like that. [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]

The Rock Loved Wrestling Kurt Angle

Former WWE Champion, The Rock, too, was recently on Sports Illustrated alongside Mark Kerr. During the appearance, the People’s Champ shared high praise for Kurt Angle.

The Rock and Kerr reviewed footage from the former’s wrestling days, when he named Angle as one of the people he liked wrestling against.

I loved wrestling guys who are just insane athletes who had a pedigree at other things. And that was always Kurt Angle – insane athlete, as you know, pedigree in wrestling, gold medal at the Olympics – wins the gold medal with a broken neck, it’s just wild, said The Rock.

Before joining WWE, Kurt Angle was invited to an ECW taping, where he attended High Incident.

Angle witnessed one of the most horrific incidents there, resulting in him walking out and calling out Paul Heyman for it.

He recently fired back at an ECW legend following the latter’s personal insult.
