Konnan Gives Update On Kidney Transplant
Ex-WCW star Konnan has given the latest on his medical condition.
Konnan remains an influential figure in the pro wrestling industry long after his in-ring career has come to an end. The star was a mainstay of WCW during its boom period and held several championships – including the US Title – during his time in that company.
Now the star is as well known for giving his opinions on his successful podcast as well as his work with AAA where he books the promotion’s shows. However, life outside the wrestling business is proving tough as he remains in need of a new kidney.
Konnan remains hopeful of a transplant
Speaking to Haus of Wrestling, Konnan opened up about his current situation and remains hopeful that he could have a donor almost ready to go:
“I’m feeling great, but dialysis is not something you want to be on forever because of two things: Number one, it’s your kidneys are only at 10% functionality. That’s number one. And number two, dialysis isn’t like, oh, you can be on dialysis forever and live off of it. No, you’ll eventually die. So, basically, I have to find a donor, and I have one right now.
“They just have to do; there’s this BMI index, they have to lose six pounds, six more pounds. And then they can donate their kidney, and we still got to make sure they’re compatible. So, you know, I always try to think positively because thinking negatively doesn’t help anything.”
Konnan was seen earlier in 2023 on WWE television where he gave a heartfelt induction speech for his long-time friend Rey Mysterio at the WWE Hall of Fame.
