Keith Lee Speaks Following Shock AEW Debut
Following his dominant debut on AEW Dynamite, Keith Lee has thanked fans for welcoming him back while also admitting there’s “a lot of work to do”.
AEW President Tony Khan first announced on February 4th that a free agent would be smashing through the so-called ‘Forbidden Door’ and debuting on the next episode of Dynamite to face Isiah Kassidy. Khan hyped up the signing, saying it was “huge for AEW,” and fan speculation quickly turned to WWE names who have been released in the last few months. At the top of the list was ‘Limitless’ Keith Lee, who had been released from the company on November 4th.
On February 9th, the rumours came to an end when Lee made his entrance to a huge ovation from the crowd before defeating Kassidy in short order, earning a spot in the Face of the Revolution Ladder match in the process. The winner of that bout is guaranteed a shot at the TNT Championship.
Taking to Twitter the following day, Lee thanked fans for the “warm” welcome, while also admitting that there’s a lot of work still to be done.
“We got a lot of work to do still. But I more than appreciate the warm welcome back. The person with the sign that had the same silhouette that’s on the front of my hoodie…. thank you. Touched my soul. And with sad family times hopefully behind me….let’s grind. #ForwardMarch“

Keith Lee was not the only star to make an unexpected appearance on the show, as NJPW’s Jay White also made his first appearance for AEW.
‘King Switch’ walked into a segment featuring Roppongi Vice and the Young Bucks. His appearance added to recent tensions between The Elite’s Adam Cole and the Young Bucks, with Matt and Nick Jackson pointing out that White and Kenny Omega were bitter rivals in NJPW, but Adam Cole insisting that they can trust the Switchblade.
