John Cena Reveals The One Move He Will Never Do Again
John Cena has been a cornerstone of WWE for over two decades, known for his strength, charisma, and signature moves like the “Attitude Adjustment” and the “STF” submission hold.
Throughout his illustrious career, Cena’s wrestling style has mainly relied on power and precision rather than high-flying aerial maneuvers. Recently, he addressed a fan question about whether he would ever bring back one particular aerial move that surprised many, the springboard stunner. He first used it at WrestleMania 31 in his match against Rusev.
Despite its popularity among fans, The Last Real Champion confirmed that fans won’t see him performing this stunt again, explaining the reasons behind his decision.
John Cena Will Never Perform Spingboard Stunner Again
During an interview at FAN EXPO Denver 2025, John Cena candidly stated that he never really viewed himself as a high flyer. His moves have been rooted in strength and control. The springboard stunner was something special for that moment, but it’s not part of his usual repertoire.
“So, you know, the answer is no right here… I don’t know. Anything could happen, you know? Yeah, anything could happen. But me and gravity, I realized, are good friends. I thought, man, I’m going to jump off the second rope, fly like an eagle, and I realized that I’m just not good. It was good, though, so you’re the one guy that thinks it was good.”
During the same interview, he acknowledged his on-screen rival Cody Rhodes for performing the maneuver way better than he ever has. Springboard stunner is a staple in The American Nightmare’s wrestling arsenal.
“I will tell you—and I know I’m promoting my competition here—I think Cody Rhodes has cornered the market on that maneuver.” [H/T Ringside News]
John Cena’s focus has always been on safety and longevity in the ring, and some moves, even if exciting, don’t align with his wrestling philosophy anymore. Maintaining his health and delivering consistent performances remain his top priorities as he continues his retirement tour.
