Jey Uso Almost Lost WWE Push After Legitimately Upsetting Triple H
Jey Uso’s meteoric rise began in 2023 after he revolted against The Bloodline’s leader, Roman Reigns.
While he took his brother, Jimmy Uso, with him, WWE’s plans included a singles run for Jey, a move Jimmy fully supported.
WWE: Unreal, the Stamford promotion’s latest docuseries, shows how the seeds were planted for his 2025 title reign.
An episode showed Triple H sat with his creative team, wherein he explained having a chat with Jey Uso about his push, yet he warned him about the potential hazards.
After closely observing Jey, they unanimously agreed on his victory in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match, leading to the WrestleMania title match.
Jey Uso Almost Lost His Push After A Mistake
During a RAW taping, the producers witnessed Uso botch a top rope jump during a match, landing awkwardly on his peers. Uso later admitted to feeling ‘gassed out.’
The documentary segment showed the team, including Bruce Pritchard, Bobby Roode, and Triple H, on a video call, discussing the 39-year-old’s mistake.
Michael Hayes explained that pressure was getting to Jey Uso, and his performance had been ‘off the tracks’ for a couple of weeks.
At this point, an upset Triple H recommended having an honest chat with Uso, saying that if they didn’t see improvement, they might be forced to go in another direction.
The episode does not reveal whether that talk between them took place. Nevertheless, Uso went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41.
After defeating Gunther, Jey Uso held the title for 51 days before losing it to The Ring General on the June 9 episode of WWE RAW.
