Jay White Officially A Free Agent
Jay White is looking to the future as his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling officially comes to an end with the star becoming a free agent.
At New Year’s Dash, following Wrestle Kingdom 17 where Jay White lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Title to Okada, Switchblade took his frustrations out on Hikuleo, and ended up challenging the star to a Loser Leaves Japan match.
That match took place at The New Beginning in Osaka 2023 and despite White’s best efforts to win by hook or by crook, a massive chokeslam was the end as Hikuleo picked up the win, banishing Jay White from Japan.
Things went from bad to worse for Switchblade as he lost at Battle In The Valley to AEW star Eddie Kingston in a match where the stipulation meant the loser could no longer wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling. After the bout, as White was delivering a farewell speech, he was attacked by David Finlay, who emphatically told White “f*ck your era.”
The Super J-Cast has now confirmed that White’s contract with NJPW has expired and he is now a free agent and able to sign with any promotion he chooses.
A previous report suggested that WWE looked to be Jay White’s likeliest destination as a deal with AEW could have meant he could still compete in Japan.
