Jade Cargill Might Join Main Roster Upon WWE Debut
Jade Cargill is likely headed to WWE soon with a recent report noting she could go straight to the main roster rather than doing a stint in NXT.
Tonight on AEW Rampage, Jade Cargill will challenge Kris Statlander for the TBS Championship. It’s the same championship that Statlander beat Cargill for back in May at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
The spoilers for Rampage are already out, so we know what’s going to happen in that match. As for what’s next, reports indicate that Cargill is set to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment.
Due to the fact that Cargill has only been wrestling for just over two years, many people feel like a run in NXT would make sense because it would help Cargill develop as a talent before going to the main roster.
However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Cargill may have a WWE deal that puts her on the main roster (Raw or Smackdown) right away. There are also people who believe that the deal was not completed yet.
“Jade Cargill is believed to be WWE-bound as her contract is expiring and the two sides didn’t come to terms on a money figure for a new deal.”
“Those in WWE believed she was coming and that it would be on the main roster rather than developmental, but I could see that going either way. Another person in WWE described it to us as that her name was being talked about a lot, but the deal was not completed at press time.”
The money that Jade Cargill makes in WWE would be “far more” than WWE NXT pay
If Jade Cargill signs with WWE as expected, she would likely be paid much more than what WWE talent makes in NXT, which would be a reason why she would be on Raw or Smackdown as stated by Meltzer.
“The money it would take to get her would have been far more than they pay those in developmental, but while she has a star look and is a great athlete, her skill set and experience level is not at WWE main roster woman levels. But good workers are there to make the less experienced and more marketable workers look better than they are. One person in WWE described this as coming out of the blue, but that they do expect her to be coming in. There are several factors involved here including money.”
“Cargill was probably protected more in AEW than she would be in WWE, but that’s not to be sure. She probably can have better matches in WWE because on the main roster the level of the women is higher. From a travel schedule, for someone with outside interests and a daughter, WWE would have her do more matches, which is probably a good thing for her long-run, but travel far more extensive unless she got a sweetheart deal on the schedule.
“If she has goals outside of wrestling, such as acting since she’s got a superhero look, the WWE main roster exposure would help her more.”
Jade Cargill has openly spoken about wanting to have an acting career, which could be part of the reason why she wants to join WWE and get more exposure since their audience is bigger than AEW.
A report from Fightful Select earlier in the week noted that Cargill could sign with WWE “imminently” due to her AEW deal being up, so that would allow her to be on WWE TV very soon.
