A former WWE writer has praised the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the inventive finish to the match as well as the performances of the wrestlers.

The WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event in London, England was a huge success for WWE in terms of being the highest-grossing arena event in WWE history, viewership was up from last and a lot of WWE fans absolutely loved the show.

There were two ladder matches that took place with Damian Priest emerging as the men’s winner while IYO SKY of Damage CTRL won the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. The exciting finish to that match saw Sky handcuff Becky Lynch to Bayley on opposite sides of a ladder while Sky climbed over the top of Bayley to grab the briefcase and win. The others in the match were Trish Stratus, ZOey Stark, and Zelina Vega for a total of six women.

Now that she has the coveted Money in the Bank briefcase, Sky has earned a contract for a championship match against any women’s champion in WWE right now. That could mean the WWE Women’s Champion Asuka on Smackdown, the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley on Raw, or even the NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.

Freddie Prinze Jr. is a very successful actor/producer in Hollywood that was also a former WWE writer over a decade ago. During his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, Prinze said that the story of the match made it special.

“This match was good, but the story is what set it apart from the men’s match, and made it special. At one point, IYO SKY is about to win this match, and just as she’s about to, Bayley knocks the ladder over, and this is her friend, her home girl. Granted, they’ve had their mishaps and conflict in the past, but this was like, ‘I’m about to win and you’re gonna do me dirty?'”

“She handcuffs the girls to one another, [with] their hands in between the ladder, through the middle. Their arms can’t go up, down, or sideways! They’re both trapped and cannot ascend, and surely, she climbs over Bayley — the girl who screwed her over [earlier] by putting her foot on her shoulder and head.”

“That’s amazing — I never saw that coming. Kudos to WWE for having a Japanese world champion [Asuka] and another Japanese girl primed to be champion.”
