After making his shock AEW debut at Double Or Nothing, former WWE Attitude Era star Gangrel has explained how his appearance came to be.

At AEW Double or Nothing, Adam Copeland went to war with Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match. As the bloody clash barreled towards its conclusion, momentum seemed to swing towards Black who was backed up by the House of Black.

However, Gangrel emerged through the ring canvas enabling the WWE Hall of Famer to get the win. Sadly for Adam Copeland, that win came at a cost as it’s since been revealed he broke his leg while jumping from the top of the cage.

Gangrel’s WWE Return Never Happened

Speaking to WrestleBinge, Gangrel explained how his appearance came about and revealed Copeland had the idea while he was still part of WWE but kept it in his back pocket now that he was part of the AEW roster:

When he went over and he chose to start working with AEW, he still had that idea … he called me up and said, ‘Hey, these guys all thought it’d be really cool, what do you think about coming in and finishing up that idea and coming out at Double Or Nothing and helping me out and having a little reunion,’ and I said, ‘I would love to.’

However, that moment could have been ruined due to Copeland’s serious injury but according to Gangrel the Rated-R Superstar was determined to keep going:

He told me there’s no way a broken leg was going to stop him from having that moment.

It remains to be seen how long Adam Copeland will be out of action for but a new TNT Champion will be crowned at Forbidden Door in a huge ladder match. So far Konosuke Takeshita, Jack Perry, Mark Briscoe, and Dante Martin have qualified for that match with two more spaces still up for grabs.
