Drew McIntyre Names WWE Match He’ll Never Watch Back

Drew McIntyre WWE

Not every Drew McIntyre match was a success.

Drew McIntyre signed with WWE in late 2007, debuting on SmackDown on October 12th. Despite this initial foray onto the main roster, McIntyre was quickly moved to developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling before returning to SmackDown on a full-time basis in 2009.

Shortly after his debut, McIntyre teamed with Dave Taylor in a dark match ahead of SmackDown against the Nasty Boys on November 20th. A match that has now been uploaded to the WWE Vault.

Despite doing the intro for the video, McIntyre says it’s a match he’ll never watch back.

Speaking to ComicBook’s Hayley Miller about the match, McIntyre described it as a “car wreck.”

“I will never ever watch that match back. You’ll have to tie me to the chair Clockwork Orange style and pry my eyes open to watch that match. I did the intro for it, obviously, you see before they play the match. But I — that’s some serious trauma,

I don’t need to relive what happened there. The number one curtain sell out of all WWE history. The curtain sell out is just when everybody comes to watch the match that’s happening in the ring.

Usually at TV people are busy, they have to take care of their segment for later. They’re chatting, not watching what’s going on in the ring, especially the non televised matches.

Everybody in the backstage area, I mean, everybody was waiting at monitors peeking through curtains and I was like, ‘is this normal?’ They were like, ‘no, they just know this is about to be a train wreck,’ and it was a freakin’ train wreck.”

Drew McIntyre Set To Face CM Punk

Back to 2024, and Drew will again go head-to-head with CM Punk at Bash In Berlin, this time in a Strap Match. In their first clash at SummerSlam, it was McIntyre who got the win.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that the feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will continue beyond Bash In Berlin. It’s believed the pair will have another match at Bad Blood in October inside Hell In A Cell.
