Colt Cabana Explains His AEW Role

Colt Cabana

Colt Cabana has elaborated on his current role with AEW.

Colt Cabana first appeared in AEW back in 2019 but it wasn’t until early 2020 that he signed a deal with Tony Khan’s company to become All Elite. Cabana became a reluctant part of The Dark Order but after Mr. Brodie Lee’s passing, he stuck with the group as they became firm favourites with the AEW fans.

However, Cabana’s status with the company became murky after CM Punk joined the promotion in 2021. Cabana and Punk had been best friends for years but a lawsuit with WWE soured their relationship past the point of repair. It was rumours regarding Punk having an influence over Colt Cabana no longer appearing in AEW that sparked his anger at the infamous All Out media scrum that led to a backstage fight with The Elite.

Colt Cabana working in a backstage role with AEW

Colt Cabana last competed in an AEW ring in November 2022 while Punk was out with an injury and it seems he is adjusting to a new role in the company.

Speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Cabana explained that he finds himself producing other AEW stars:

“I’m there, I get a check. Sometimes I get on the shows. I do help backstage, I do a lot of producing.”

“I was producer for Orange Cassidy and Wheeler Yuta. I was on the headsets and helping the director. As a producer, because I know wrestling, the director might not know wrestling, so I’ll be on the headset and I can kind of see, ‘You might want to get this angle because this might happen.’ It usually does because I’ve been wrestling for so long, I can foresee it.”

Orange Cassidy and Wheeler Yuta most recently met on the Fight For The Fallen edition of Dynamite where Cassidy retained the AEW International Title. The champion might face an even tougher test at All Out when he puts his gold on the line against another member of the Blackpool Combat Club.
