What are Cody Rhodes’ plans for WrestleMania 42?

Rhodes lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre on the January 9, 2026, edition of Friday Night SmackDown in a Three Stages of Hell match. Since losing the title, he has been trying his best to regain it.

He gave it his all in the Royal Rumble match, hoping to earn a chance to challenge McIntyre at WrestleMania 42.

However, his dreams were crushed when Roman Reigns won this year’s Royal Rumble match and chose to challenge CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Cody Rhodes still has a chance to earn a title shot at Elimination Chamber, which will take place on February 28, 2026. He could secure a spot in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match if he wins on the February 13 episode of SmackDown against Jacob Fatu and Sami Zayn in a qualifying triple-threat match.

Cody Rhodes Has His Sights Set On Undisputed WWE Championship

Ahead of WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes appeared on The Live Kelly and Mark Show to discuss his plans for the event. He revealed that his focus remains on winning back the Undisputed WWE Championship. The plan, according to Rhodes, is to either defend the title or challenge for it at WrestleMania 42.

“Last year at WrestleMania 41, I wrestled John Cena on his retirement tour for the WWE Championship. And sadly, I am here today empty-handed, no WWE Championship. So the idea would be, WrestleMania 42, defending or challenging for the WWE Championship. And then I can come back to the show with a title,” he said.
