CM Punk’s Emotional Moment After WWE SummerSlam Captured On Camera

CM Punk won a major WWE title for the first time in over eleven years at SummerSlam.

His celebrations, however, were cut short by his arch-nemesis, Seth Rollins.

Punk faced Gunther after earning the rights to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship by winning a gauntlet match.

Their match on Night 1 on Saturday saw Punk be dominated for the majority of the time. It was only after a freak move by CM Punk that Gunther lost his composure.

The former world champion took advantage of the opportunity to nail The Ring General with two GTSs. Punk immediately went for the pin as the audience at MetLife Stadium celebrated his win wildly.

A few minutes into his celebrations, Seth Rollins’ music hit. He came out on crutches due to an injury he had suffered at Saturday Night’s Main Event XL.

However, it turned out to be a ruse. Rollins headed to the ring with his Money in the Bank briefcase and cashed it.

Rollins hit an exhausted CM Punk with The Stomp for a pinfall, resulting in the title changing hands within minutes.

CM Punk’s Emotional Reaction After Unexpected Title Loss

CM Punk knew about the challenge that Gunther posed in front of him before going into the match.

But he would not have expected Rollins to be full fit, considering how the latter’s match against LA Knight at SNME ended.

After picking himself up, Punk sported a disappointed look.

He scanned the audience, as they lauded his effort, and seemingly said ‘sorry’ to them.

While appearing on the SummerSlam Post-Show, Triple H looked none too pleased with Rollins’ ruse, but he acknowledged his title win.
