CM Punk did not orchestrate the cancellation of Matt Hardy from AEW Collision.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, sources close to Punk have denied that the former World Champion is the one responsible for cancelling the Hardy appearance on August 12th.

According to the report, Matt Hardy was booked to appear on the Saturday night show but was then told not to travel to The Greensboro Coliseum for the taping. Hardy was told by his sources that it actually was related to Punk’s involvement, being described as “one of those things that happen.”

Hardy joins a list of names that include Adam Page, Ryan Nemeth and Head of Talent Relations Christopher Daniels as talents who were originally scheduled to appear at the taping but were later told to go home instead. Reports from various sources have gone from one extreme to the other, with some claiming that Punk was responsible for all the names listed being prohibited from attending, with others stating Punk had nothing to do with it at all.

CM Punk Continues To Create Controversy In AEW

The off-camera behaviour of CM Punk would continue that day when the show went off the air. In a dark segment seemingly used to thank the fans in the arena for coming, Punk would spot a “Hangman” Adam Page sign in the crowd, going on to mock Page for his lack of drawing power. After the rant, Punk was said to have apologised to Page for his remarks, which were meant to be presented in a more comedic fashion.

Over the next week, varying reports would come out regarding the Second City Saint’s previous issues with members of the AEW roster, with names such as Jack Perry and Ryan Nemeth each having separate backstage disagreements.
