Becky Lynch Wins NXT Women’s Championship
NXT just got big time as Becky Lynch won some gold.
Shortly after Tiffany Stratton retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Kiana James, Becky Lynch appeared on the big screen and stated that she would be the next one to challenge Stratton for the title. The championship match was later made official for the September 12th broadcast.
In the main event of NXT on September 12th, The Man did indeed come around as she took on Stratton after encountering some stars of the brand earlier in the show. Kiana James warned Lynch that she wasn’t wanted in NXT while Lynch shared a more positive encounter with fellow Irishwoman Lyra Valkyria.
The bout between Becky Lynch and Tiffany Stratton was back and forth and at one point saw Lynch attempt to drive the champion through the announce table with a leg drop. The finish saw Stratton go for her Prettiest Moonsault Ever, Lynch moved but Stratton landed on her feet only to walk right into a Manhandle Slam which allowed Becky Lynch to win the title.

Becky Lynch completes the set
Becky Lynch spent the first two years of her WWE career on NXT but during that time she failed to capture the NXT Women’s Championship at that time. Her fellow Four Horsewomen Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Charlotte Flair all achieved that feat and now Lynch can add her name to that list.
Lynch’s last match on the brand before her win over Tiffany Stratton came in 2019 when she returned for the 500th episode of NXT television, going to a no contest with current Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. It remains to be seen how long Becky Lynch will be part of Tuesday nights and what her presence might do to the ratings for the show.
