Swerve Strickland is looking to surpass the already high expectations of fans heading into his match on AEW Dynamite.

Strickland is set to face Bryan Danielson on the “Title Tuesday” special, where the winner will become the new number one contender to the TNT Championship held by Christian Cage. While many regard Danielson as one of the best wrestlers today, Strickland believes that he will have that accolade in the future.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, the former AEW Tag Team Champion stated that he is a rising star and will take it to the next level at the expense of The American Dragon:

The beauty of this is that there are big expectations for quality, but people are going to be surprised at the match we put on. Bryan is one of the greatest of our generation, and one of the greatest of all-time. I’m one of the biggest up-and-coming talents–and looking to be all-time. I’m one of the most unique performers. I hope to spawn new talents to follow my template. I’m laying that groundwork now. Bryan Danielson’s legacy is ever-growing, but I want to be the one to seal it. This is where it ends for him and begins with me.”

AEW Dynamite Loads Up The Card For Important Episode

Going head-to-head with NXT, Dynamite is not taking a back seat for their rare appearance on Tuesday night. On top of the in-ring debut of Adam Copeland, multiple title matches and the number one contenders match between Strickland and Bryan, it has been announced that there will be a 30-minute buy-in and major changes made to the format of the show.
