Adam Copeland Names AEW Star Who Makes Everybody Better

Adam Copeland on the mic in AEW

Adam Copeland has revealed the underrated star in AEW who makes everyone around him better.

For much of Copeland’s career, he has been tied to his best friend Christian Cage due to the pair’s success as seven-time Tag Team Champions in WWE. After their tag team career, both men went on to win multiple World Championships, although it was Copeland who received the bulk of the spotlight.

When both men returned to WWE after career-threatening injuries – Copeland in 2020, and Cage in 2021 – it looked like a reunion run was on the cards. However, it wasn’t to be, as Cage opted to leave the company and join All Elite Wrestling, while Copeland continued his WWE career.

That all changed at WrestleDream on October 1st, 2023, when Adam Copeland made his shocking debut for AEW. While he later revealed the reason he joined the company was to reunite with Christian, the TNT Champion was having none of it, telling him to “go f**k yourself.” Since then, Copeland has been aiding Sting and Darby Allin in their feud with Christian Cage’s group, which has been named The Patriarchy.

Despite their onscreen rivalry, the pair remain firm friends in real life, and Copeland agrees with people who say Cage is underrated in the ring.

Adam Copeland On Christian Cage: “He Makes Everyone Around Him Better”

During an interview with the New York Post, Copeland explained that it takes getting in the ring with Christian for wrestlers to understand just how good he is.

“I don’t know why. If you ask any wrestler in the industry, who steps in there with him, they’re like, ‘Wow, I didn’t fully understand until…’ I think Moxley was like, ‘I thought I was good until I got in there with Christian.’

“What he does best, and maybe this explains it, he makes everyone around him better. Sometimes that can be a curse because you get the ‘good hand’ attached to you. But no matter who he’s in there with, watch the matches, that performer is nine times out of 10 better than they are in any other match.”

While Cage is known for playing to other people’s strengths, Copeland believes in his latest run he has been concentrating on his own because he knows it could be his last chance.

“He just has that ability. The way his mind works to build strengths for his opponents. Sometimes in building those strengths that means he doesn’t show his strengths and that’s a giving performer. I feel like in this instance, this last chance, this last kick of the can he’s realizing, ‘OK, hold on a second I’m gonna do some stuff here that gets my character over and really go for it in that regard and take some chances and say something on the microphone, like what did he just say?'”

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage will clash for the first time since 2010 at AEW Full Gear. At his debut AEW pay-per-view, Copeland will team with Sting and Allin to take on Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne in tag team action.
