The 2019 edition of WWE’s Royal Rumble will take place in Phoenix, Arizona. The event will be held at Chase Field, which is the home of Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks. The Royal Rumble will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019. The announcement was made by AZCentral.com with comments from WWE confirming it and you can see WWE’s website post about it as well.

The stadium has a retractable roof on it and can hold 48,519 people for a baseball game. It’s not known what the configuration might be for a WWE event, but it’s very likely they will be able to hold 40,000 people or more in Chase Field. It’s the first time WWE will hold a Royal Rumble in a baseball stadium.

That also means Phoenix will get WWE shows for four straight nights on the following dates.

Saturday, Jan. 26: NXT TakeOver at Talking Stick Resort Arena

Sunday, Jan. 27: Royal Rumble at Chase Field

Monday, Jan. 28: Monday Night Raw at Talking Stick Resort Arena

Tuesday, Jan. 29: SmackDown Live at Talking Stick Resort Arena

John Saboor, who is WWE’s Executive VP of special events, explained why the company is heading to Phoenix next year.

“We have an incredibly rich history and heritage of presenting WWE events in the Valley of the Sun. In many respects, this serves as an exciting opportunity to work with longstanding and new partners in Phoenix to create four nights of memories.”

“One thing that is a clear advantage is the close proximity between Talking Stick Resort Arena and Chase Field. It makes for a seamless experience for our fans. You are able to fly into the airport, travel to downtown and stay in a hotel, enjoy restaurants and shopping and transportation — all downtown.”

The last time Phoenix held a Royal Rumble was 2013, which is when John Cena won the Royal Rumble.

Ticket information will be announced soon.
