Updated WrestleMania Lineup, Rumor for Raw Tag Team Title Match at WM and More

TJR Wrestling

There are three matches that are official for WrestleMania as of right now. The WWE’s biggest show of the year takes place at the Mercedes Benz Superdome on April 8th in New Orleans. Two new matches were announced on this week’s edition of Raw while the other one was already known after last week’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Here’s what we know so far.

Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns

Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey vs. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

Intercontinental Championship: The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins

It was mentioned by PWInsider that more people get added to the IC Title match, but that’s official for now.

That’s it for now, but there will be more matches added in the next few weeks.

Shinsuke Nakamura won the Royal Rumble, so he gets to face the WWE Champion at WrestleMania. Right now that’s AJ Styles, but Styles has to get through five other men in the Six Pack Challenge for the WWE Championship at Fastlane on Sunday. That match is AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin for the WWE Championship. I expect Styles to retain the title.

Another match expected at WrestleMania is John Cena vs. The Undertaker. It could be official next week after Cena loses at Fastlane, but maybe a week after. All indications are that the match is still happening.

Asuka won the Women’s Royal Rumble (it was historic, don’t ya know?) and she has earned the right to challenge either Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss or Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. The expectation is that Asuka will face Charlotte although that won’t be official until possibly Sunday’s Fastlane show because Charlotte is defending her title against Ruby Riott. It may be next week’s Raw or Smackdown where Asuka makes it official. As for Bliss, the rumor is her buddy Nia Jax might turn face and challenge her for the title possibly by winning a battle royal or something like that. There’s plenty of time.

Regarding the Raw Tag Team Titles held by Sheamus and Cesaro, PWInsider reported that they are set to face a team that is “not currently at team” at WrestleMania, so no idea who that might be at this time.

Where does all this leave Braun Strowman? We don’t know yet. Maybe Kane will come back and that will be his match. I doubt he gets added to Lesnar vs. Reigns. One thing floated out by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is WWE is keeping Strowman out of a match at the moment because Roman Reigns may be in trouble due to steroid allegations from a jailed drug dealer, but we don’t know that as fact. It’s just rumor and innuendo at this point.

Fastlane is this Sunday. We will have a preview up on the site on Friday and after Fastlane takes place, the WrestleMania lineup could become more clear.

This is just a friendly reminder that it’s March 6. WrestleMania is April 8. We don’t need to know the full card today, but this is what is known so far.
