Jim Ross Expected To Make Full Recovery

Jim Ross

Jim Ross is recovering well.

On May 23rd, Jim Ross announced on social media that he had been taken to the emergency room after struggling with shortness of breath. In recent years, the legendary announcer has been dealing with several health issues including skin cancer, while undergoing multiple surgeries.

Ross most recently went under the knife in early 2024 for treatment on his hip, although he still made it to Revolution to call Sting’s final match despite being in a great deal of pain.

In a new post on social media, Ross shared a photo from hospital with his two daughters.

Jim Ross To Miss AEW Double Or Nothing

Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that while Ross will be unable to appear at AEW Double or Nothing as planned, he expects to be fine in a few days.

Jim Ross, 72, was hospitalized on 5/23 at his other home in Norman, OK, due to shortness of breath. He said that he won’t be able to go to Las Vegas this weekend for Double or Nothing, which was his next announcing gig as right now he’s only doing PPV shows. He said that has a Class A flu and raised heart enzymes to go along with breathing issues but was getting excellent care and expects to be fine in a few days.

Jim Ross signed a new one-year deal with AEW in March 2024 which will see him call pay-per-views without being involved on Dynamite, Collision, or Rampage. Upon signing the deal, Ross said he expects it to be his last as an announcer.

Everyone at TJR Wrestling sends their best wishes to Jim Ross for a full and speedy recovery.
