Cody Rhodes Reveals What The Undertaker Did To Him At WWE WrestleMania 40

The Undertaker WrestleMania 40

Cody Rhodes has recalled a special moment between him and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 40.

At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes finally finished his story by defeating Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. However, he didn’t do it alone.

Due to the bout being held under Bloodline Rules, Reigns had plenty of help from his family in his attempt to hold onto his gold, but for everyone who came in to assist him, Rhodes had his own star to counter them.

As things broke down, Jey Uso took out his brother Jimmy, John Cena removed Solo Sikoa from the equation, and when The Rock came to the ring to attack Rhodes, the lights went out and none other than The Undertaker appeared to Chokeslam the Final Boss to Hell. This left the path clear for Rhodes to hit multiple Cross Rhodes before ending The Tribal Chief’s record reign.

During an appearance on The Babyfaces podcast, Rhodes recalled the moment The Deadman made his entrance and compared his speed getting in the ring to Ricochet.

“When the blackout happens on TV, it’s completely dark. When the blackout is in the arena, your eyes are adjusted to where you can actually see what’s going on in the ring. The ‘gong’ hits, the place loses their mind. Roman has leveled me prior to this. I’m laying there, almost dead to rights. Hanging on, trying to catch my breath.

“I saw, out of the corner of my eye, The Undertaker roll into the ring at a speed that was like Ricochet or Chad Gable rolling into the ring. A speed that, if anyone wonders if it’s still there, oh my gosh, it was like a lion. Legit, like a lion who had been sleeping on a rock all day and we went out and did.”

According to Rhodes, The Phenom shared a special moment with The American Nightmare just before the lights went back out.

“When he chokeslams The Rock, I got to make eye contact with him ever so briefly and I think he maybe wanted to have a moment, maybe not, I could be overestimating my importance to The Undertaker, but he winked at me. He winked at me, and then the lights went out. It was like legitimate magic had happened. All the times he struck people with lighting, he did it. Just as he gave me a nice [winks], the lights went out. To me, it’s one of the most special things ever.”

Cody Rhodes Threatened By NJPW Star

WWE is set to head to back to Japan in July for its first live events in the country since 2019. Since the news of the tour broke, NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd has sent a warning to Cody Rhodes, telling him to stay out of his territory or he’ll “slap him up.”
