WWE’s Rey Mysterio Named Greatest Luchador Ever

Rey Mysterio WWE Promo

Rey Mysterio has been named as the greatest luchador of all-time by Matt Hardy.

The eldest Hardy brother is well placed to offer an informed opinion having battled the WWE Hall Of Famer on multiple occasions, including a successful defence of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in the opening bout of WrestleMania 19 in 2003.

Despite turning 50 years old in December 2024, Mysterio continues to build on his impressive legacy by entering breatehtaking in-ring performances, most recently as a member of the LWO faction in bouts against the likes of The New Day and Kevin Owens.

Speaking during a recent edition of his podcast ‘The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy‘ the former ECW Champion sung the praises of the popular 5ft 6inch Superstar, declaring him as the best luchador of all-time:

“I would put him down as the greatest luchador of all time. I thought about everybody.

The stuff he’s done has transcended so much. He was successful in Mexico. He was successful in ECW. He was successful in WCW. He was successful in WWE and became a World Champion, which was groundbreaking for someone his size.

He’s an amazing guy. Rey’s the best. I can’t say enough good stuff about him. I can sit her and put him over ad nauseam.

He’s the best.”

Rey Mysterio Dreams Of Special WWE Moment

Despite having little left to achieve after a hugely successful 35 year in-ring career, Rey Mysterio has admitted that he still dreams of one last special moment in WWE.

The San Diego-born veteran has noted that he is keen to win tag team gold alongside son Dominik Mysterio once again before hanging up his boots.

The pair previously enjoyed a 63-day reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions in 2021.
